Piracy is against Intellectual Rights, and Indonesia, especially Jakarta has been the convergence to the vicious cycle of this criminal activity. You can find cheap dvd films or blue-ray quality dvd surround Jakarta. For a film dvd you can buy it for IDR 6000, and cheaper if you buy lots of them. From the newest release and vintage, these films are distributed in organic way and sometimes with particular corrupt authority backups. Softwares also become the vertile area to the piracy. Hundreds of computer programs and operating systems are sold cheaply. One dvd of Windows with some expensive programs included are sold for IDR 50.000. In a recent report by an Australian newspaper, the film piracy is related with terrorism funding network, as in a raid took in Phillipine, 1,6 million illegal dvd found, where may have been funnelled to terrorist groups such as the Bali bombers Jemaah Islamiah, according to Philippine authorities. |
